Goals may change as the search for a path progresses – indeed, goal posts may be moved by unforeseeable circumstances. However, as self-understanding evolves, the exploration for purpose, relevance and happiness, involving self, others, lifestyle, and creativity grows.

Dead-ends, side-roads and unexpected corners will test vision, imagination and patience to the limit. Reflecting on the emotions released may expand the boundaries of personal expression. On the questing journey, change can appear to be a threat. Fear may bite hard, especially when the change in direction is toward an unknown future. There is always the possibility that the passage of time will reveal that the thing most feared was the most significant contributor to the enhancement of our existence. These difficult times will require determination and a strong desire to prevail, remembering that joy is best found during the journey.

Image > When I wake up each day, I see this spotted gum outside my bedroom window. The tree may be lit by a filtered sun or perhaps shrouded in mist, and the colours are muted. Sometimes the bark is wet with rain or peeling as the wet season sets in. The tree reminds me that change is constant, and I must learn to embrace it in every area of my life. During the twilit hours, I could watch sugar gliders chasing each other up and down the main trunk as though in the sense of youthful exuberance. I often wished that I could have joined them!
